About Us
Essentially, Dark Pines Studios was built by a musician, for musicians.
Dark Pines Studio and Remote Tracking is the life long dream come true for owner, Max Dearing. Having survived being struck by lightning, music was a large part of the recovery process for Max. It soon became time to pay forward a portion of the the gift of music to future generations.
The studio actually started out as a means to create a demo for his band, with just a few pieces of gear... which quickly grew into one of the region's only dedicated mobile recording rigs.
Growth meant that there soon needed to be a dedicated mixing facility with the hopes for space to maybe do overdubs.
Dark Pines Studio was initially designed by Dearing, and drawings were submitted to Rod Gervais for clean up. Thanks to Rod, the result is nothing short of beyond Max's wildest dreams.
The studio is the result of many years of hard work. Combining the love of music and the desire to create a warm, comfortable and creative environment.
The studio features a spacious control room, intimate tracking room and two isolation booths. The majority of the lumber used in the construction was hand milled, by the owner, from lumber on the property.
The 350 sq ft control room finish is cherry with red oak trim, and can easily accommodate a full production crew and band members. Producers have their own desk within the sweet spot, with plenty of work space and easy access to the rest of the facility.
The 450 sq ft Tracking room is red oak with walnut trim, and features 14 foot vaulted ceiling, and many fine vintage instruments.
The main isolation booth is finished in eastern red cedar, and is suitable for isolation of any instrument and exceptional for VO work.
The facility was designed to offer a relaxing place to create music. Dark Pines offers a comfortable lounge equipped with full kitchen, restroom and shower facilities as well as high definition television.
The tranquil 5 acre lot offers near endless walking trails, relaxing patio area with fire pit and sleeping accommodations for up to 5.
We want to encourage engineers and producers who do not have a facility at their disposal to also contact us about using the studio. Whether it's tracking drums, overdubs or mix only.
